Status checks for visa and citizenship applications sent to the Washington office
We will always endeavour to finalise your application as quickly as possible, in accordance with Australian law and within the Processing Time Standards as stated in the DIAC Client Service Charter.
To assist us in accomplishing this, we recommend that you allow plenty of time to apply for your visa or citizenship prior to your planned travel and that you not confirm any travel bookings prior to your visa decision.
If you are seeking confirmation that your application has been received by this office, you may do so by either checking if the visa or citizenship application charge has been debitted from your credit card or verifying the tracking number you used to send your application. We ask that you allow seven (7) working days prior to contacting us about your application, unless there has been a significant change in your circumstances since you lodged you application.
If you have any significant information to add to your application or if there has been a material change in your circumstances that might have an impact on your visa application, please notify your case officer as soon as possible, or, if you do not have yet been assigned a case officer, please contact our office via email.
► Please note that the current processing time for Australian citizenship by descent (form 118) is six (6) to eight (8) weeks. Please ensure that you account for this when preparing your application for an Australian passport and making your travel plans.
