The Department operates a telephone line and an email mailbox accessible from anywhere in North America (Canada, USA, and Mexico) and most of the Caribbean. Please note that international telephone charges to Canada will apply if calling from outside of Canada.
The information officers will answer your questions about visas, immigration and citizenship. Service is available in English, French, Portuguese and Spanish.

Hours of operation: Monday to Friday, 10:00 am to 5:00 pm Eastern Standard Time. Please note the holiday schedule for days of operation.
The Australian Visa Information Service provides the following services:
►General information on immigration and Australian citizenship.
►Update on pending applications - If you have a pending application with the Department (whether lodged on-line or at an Australian mission), ISAV has:
— The ability to provide you with an update on the processing of your application; and
— The ability to liaise with the relevant processing office - and/or your case officer - to inform them of any changes in your circumstances or urgent situation.
►Status Checks for Online Visa Applications
