PRIME MINISTER APPOINTS NEW TRADE MINISTER
Prime Minister John Howard on Monday announced the appointment of Warren Truss as Australia’s new Minister for Trade.
First elected to the Federal Parliament in 1990, Mr Truss has previously held the positions of Minister for Transport and Regional Services, Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, Minister for Community Services, and Minister for Customs and Consumer Affairs.
Mr Truss replaces the Deputy Prime Minister, Mark Vaile, who served as Australia’s trade minister for seven years. Mr Vaile will take over the Transport and Regional Services portfolio, enabling him to spend more time in the rural and regional areas of Australia.
