Recruitment & Selection
Applications
In the interest of equity, applications must be received by the closing date. Written applications must include a completed LES Application Form, A Resume, and a Statement of Claims Against the Selection Critieria. Applications without these documents will not be considered. Applicants must identify at least 2 work-related referees. Both referees should be the candidate's current or recent supervisors.
Interviews
Written applications are assessed to short-list individuals for interview. Interviews are typically scheduled within 2 weeks of the closing date. Due to the high volume of applications, we are unable to notify unsuccessful applicants. If you have not been notified of the outcome of your application within four weeks of the closing date, please assume you have been unsuccessful on this occassion.
Interviews are conducted at the Embassy (1601 Massachusetts Ave, Washington DC). Telephone interviews are conducted for those short-listed candidates who are not currently residing in the Washington DC area. Interviews typically run for 30 to 45 minutes. The interview panel typically consists of a work unit representative, a Human Resources representative, and an independent representative. Canididates are asked a range of situational, behavioural, and general questions. Each question is designed to elicit responses that demonstate skills and abilities in, and/or knowledge of each selection critierion. All candidates are asked the same set of interview questions.
Post-Interview
All short-listed candidates are notified of the outcome of their application for the position within four weeks of the interview date. Due to the high volume of recruitment activities conducted at the Embassy, individualised feedback is not provided.
The successful candidate will typcially be asked to commence within 6 weeks of the date of offer. A delayed start date may be approved or required in special circumstances.
